Pitman Arm
« on: January 22, 2006 - 02:57:18 PM »
I'm in need of a new pitman arm, and since I'm ordering some stuff from year one, it'll get it from them. I just wondered if the powersteer pitman arm they have is the correct one for my '70 Barracuda? It's part# G963. The description reads "1973-1974 B- and E-body pitman arm for models with power steering, reproduction." I am a bit confused if this is 73-74 B- and E- body or if it is the correct one for 73-74 B- and ALL E-body? Anybody that know? Thanks!  :dunno:

no it is not the same , the early pitman arm goes into the cenrter link from above , the later arm is longer & reaches under the center link & comes in from the bottom

Try www.partsamerica.com They are the internet arm of Advance Auto Parts.  I've had pretty good luck finding replacement parts from them and they do have pitman arms for Cuda's including AAR quick-ratio boxes.  It usually the same stuff as Year One, but substantially cheaper.  I bought a remanuf. steering box from them for $120 w/ $30 core.  At Y1 it was around $300 w/ $75 core and it was the same box, by the same remanuf. (Lares).  I'm not knockin' Y1...bought from them before and will again, but money doesn't grow on trees around my place.

If you have an Advance Auto Parts store near you, simply get them to order the part, they'll drop-ship it to that store (overnight in the Atlanta area) and you don't pay any shipping charges.

Hope that helps.

Man! The internet can make the world really small.  I checked and PartsAmerica doesn't currently ship outside the US.  Sorry.
