Need help setting up suspension
« on: February 08, 2006 - 05:56:26 PM »
I've been going back and forth with if i wanna dump a little coin in my engine or in my suspenion. I"m trying to weigh both options. Basically i wanna set it drag style (wanna pull a wheelie ) What do you guys recommend as far as a set up for the front and rear. Names, links, prices etc. would also be very helpful. After i get the suspension all done if i can't pull the tires (at the track with slicks of course) then i'll put some more power under the hood.

I used stock leafs , ladderbars & housing floaters , this seemed like the simplest & safest street system , I was using 4.30 gears & a very good clutch
Alston , Chassis Engineering make ladderbars, probably cost $1000 for the parts & install unless you do the work yourself

how do you make the car do a wheelie?

having a good amount of power and being albe to stick it to the ground. I can get the left front to just barely hang on the launch. I want both tires up a foot or tow for a short distance.

If the car has enough power with the right suspenions set up and a fatty set of slicks to put it down then yes it's very possible.

You've never seen a car pull the wheels off the line?

it really matters how hard you HIT the tires , most cars will spin if you hit the tires hard so traction is a must , but traction without enough power is not going to get you very far either , if you are trying to do this with an automatic it will be much tougher as the  converters that will stall high enough to hit the tires hard are not streetable

then only time ive ever seen a car pull a wheelie is in fast and furious and i trust nother about that movie although 2f2f had a very nice challenger.

im not really into the whole drag race thing,  but i do think the wheelie thing would be kinda cool just to freak people out.

I have seen a couple cars pull wheelie's so high they went right up on their back bumper . . .when they came down, they didn't go anywhere as I think they had sh!t their pants.
