4-bbl Air Cleaner paint
« on: February 19, 2006 - 06:50:02 PM »
I've heard that the dual snorkel air cleaners are suppose to be wrinkle black, were they all this way? and does anyone have a picture of the correct decal for the top of it for a 1971 440/4-bbl? :picture:

I went with Powder coating to give it a nice gloss finish.
I don't think it's correct but I like it and it's no major to fix later on down the road.

It's supposed to be wrinkle and you can get a nice can of wrinkle paint at O'Reilly.  Just follow the directions and you will be fine.  I also used it on my non ralley instrument cluster and it looks good there too.  They aren't decals either, they are pie pans that sit on top the air cleaner and they differ between Dodge and Plymouth on which is right for your car but since you say Challenger clone, the Magnum one would be OK.

I think too many of the wrinkle jobs....  are wayyyyyy too wrinkly.

My original stuff hasnt been anywhere near as wrinkly as I see all these "restored" cars and restored Aircleaners for sale out there.

Is it just me ???

I've heard that they are a little to bumpy, anyone repainted their air cleaner with a specific brand of wrinkle paint that looks good/original?
