440 water hole in head gasket??

I was confirming that this is correct an nothing is wrong. Question is regarding the slot blocking the water hole in the head gasket. The Fel pro head gasket has a slot for the water hole, the head has a .500" hole and the block has a .630'' hole. So it looks like the head gasket restricts the water flow quite a bit. If that is correct, what good would a high volume water pump be?

Yep, to restrict the water flow to the head.
Forces water to go around all the cylinders, to the rear for cooling, prior to coming up to the head from the large rear hole in the photo. Works fine.
FC out.
