More information on quarter skin installation
« on: March 04, 2006 - 01:08:23 PM »
This thread on Moparts came up about quarter panel skin installation: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=2447554&page=0&vc=1&PHPSESSID=4b4d503aabb0b74b96cd22e267d2d732#Post2447554. Basically, if you butt weld or lap weld a skin on and do not use lead on the seam, Resto Rick says you will see the weld line on a hot day. If you don't want to use lead on the seam, you have to grind down the back of the welds.

I just ground down the welds on the backside. It was pretty easy except for one small stretch. I have to get a long grinding bit for that area. If you have the car apart, I see no reason to not grind down your welds!
