Custom Dash questions
« on: March 10, 2006 - 12:02:19 PM »
I've been looking around for a Ralley dash lately and realize the prices are pretty high for a decent one. I also have AC which makes the parts a fair bit more expensive and harder to get. I have been throwing around the idea of going with a custom non-ralley dash. I found a picture of one that looks pretty good. The guy is using Autometer Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite guages. Spedo, voltage, oil pressure, temp, fuel guage. My question is a) is this hard to do? b) what sizes are the guages (5" spedo, 2 1/16 or 2 5/8" other guages?)

I've attached a picture of the dash I was looking at, its just a thought....a couple of my gauges aren't working, so figured this may be a nice solution.   :dunno:

I have rally gauges, so I can't help you size wise. This shouldn't be tough to do though. In buying the gas gauge, you would need to get something that fits the Mopar 12-75 ohm range of the sending unit. The tach could really mount anywhere you see fit. Power, ground, and a wire going to the "-" side of the coil is all you would need there.

Thanks mike, I was wondering about the range on the fuel gauge. I'm stilling waiting to see about a ralley dash I found, if it is not usable I may look into doint this. I have a tach already,  I would just be buying the Spedo, and rest of the guages. Not really my thing, but anything would look better then a standard dash with inaccurate readings..lol.
I think I need the 2 1/16" guages to sit in deep and give a somewhat stock look. The spedo is a 5" I think. I will be buying a mechanical spedo, not sure if I can set the mileage to my current reading though.
