Hey Kevin, I recently purchased a 1995 XJ Cherokee for my daily driver.
It's great, these have galvanized underbodies so rust isn't an issue down there.

If you can get your hands on some service history to see if the Jeep has been cared for, that may help, at least offer peace of mind.  These things run for ever, I have 114,00km on the clock (70,00 miles) no problems at all runs and drives strong and is surprisingly comfy, no sway or tilt around corners. I'm getting a 2" lift soon with some 31" tyres to add some "chunk" to it. Had the windows tinted to 5% after these photos were taken.

Good luck and keep us posted.
(The second photo is what it will look like once complete, except a little lower)

blah, it needs to have the 4.0L straight 6 in order to have the longevity of an old jeep.  i have an 89 straight 6 and it is just now starting to get on my nerves and it have 250,000 miles

i think a v6 wouldnt last as long

My Truck is being worked on at present but you can go to the site I mentioned above and do a search  - HEAPS of photos  mate!  :eek7: :bananasmi Everything and everything, it's the Cuda-Challenger of the Jeep world.

I forgot to mention I have a 4.0HO Straight 6.

V6's are good if made properly. Nissan makes IMO the best out there, had 2 or 3 as we grew up and they never EVER failed, enough grunt too. Nissan's IMO are the best Japanese make and with Godzillas are no laughing matter.

I agree th 4.0l straight 6 is better but i have heard of people getting 200,000 out of the v6's if taken care of . I have an 88 with the 4.ol that has 230,000 miles on it and runs great.
The vacumn lines are not hard to trace you can start right from the axle they plug into vacumn pot mounted on the axle , mine has 2 lines which are together in 1 connector .
