Fender bolt "color"?
« on: March 04, 2006 - 02:15:35 PM »
I see these "new" fender mount bolt sets for E-Bodies for sale that appear to be anodized a gold color.  Since mine are in good useful shape but rusty, I don't know if they were shiny when new.  Is this correct or are they supposed to be black, or in my case the off-white body color?

I think the bolts were left "as is" being an add on after paint.
We painted mine, looks better and doesn't stand out.

The bodies were painted with the fenders on, the bolts should be body color.

Is that right? That's good to know....I thought they were painted later.
Makes sense though, saves time I guess.  :-\

Maybe they could have used that spare time to create some non-BS interior, less cheap.  :roflsmiley:

if your bolts are rusty what i did on my scout was just put the threads in a paper towel and lightly put them into a vice and then wire brush the heads really well then dunked them in some good oil, makes em look black and keeps em from rusting and they go in and out easy   Depends how original you want to be i suppose :working:
