Car Hauling Companies
« on: March 09, 2006 - 08:52:30 PM »
OK guys and gals, it may come down to this that i might have to have the 68 hauled to my house. What i need is a list of companies that A. are good, B. Not going to rip me off, c. Trust worthy. I seem to have become very fond of this car and it is not even in my hands yet. I just keep hearing good and bad stories about car haulers. I did find a name and number over on Moparts.com For a Jeff and Bruce, they are independant car haulers that are working together to get cars moved around the country. They gave me a very good price of $800-$900 to haul it from oregon to wisconsin. I just get worried that someone is going to rip me off, I just don't want to see the car disappear.  :feedback:

I have a guy getting a the Challenger from Iowa and bringing it to Oregon next week.  I think he just got on the raod.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

800-900 is a good price....I have used several but I just used FEDEX/Passport and am very happy.......1000.00 from Kansas to Atlanta, covered hauler door to door no offloading onto another hauler etc.....constant contact and tracking with driver....FULLY INSURED!   get copy of their ins policy if a smaller company

I just received my fully restored 70 AAR Cuda clone in from Holland MI. with Fedex/Passport. These people completely F-up my car. The car came in with a huge scratch a foot long and a inch wide on the right front fender, the completely magganled the rear valance of the car. And here is the best one, the drive shaft had broke off from the rear u joint and fell of the car. I didn't see not one strap holding the car in place. I have a huge claim going on at this momment.
They are by far the worst I have ever delt with! Pic of the car before transport.

Wow that ain't cool! I know of the 3 diff haulers I have used it really seems to boil down to the driver.....they either know what they are doing and really care about protecting your car or not( they covered my cars in plastic and/or a car cover) ......sometimes loose items like exhaust pies, spare wheels etc.....get hauled on these loads so damage is a greater risk.......unfortunately you can have anyone ruin your day no matter how good their rep is..........make sure YOU as well as THEM have insurance on the vehicle being moved....

It's a tough world out there.  :grinyes: I had my 70 Challenger shipped to me in Maryland from Florida. I had my 2005 Mustang shipped to me from Kentucky. In each case, the company I "hired" sub-contracted to a private individual who was halling other cars in the same direction of the country. I didn't have problems in either cases, other than the Mustang being a little late in getting here. I guess it is hit or miss out there. For the record, I hired FedEx custom/critical to ship my Mustang.

RELIABLE Carriers @ 480 496 8000 ask for Al Abrams.  These guys are pro's and I've used them many times with never a scatch! Maybe not the cheapest but they live up to their name!

P.S. I am NOT getting paid for this endorsement!

Hey Cheeze, $8-900 is a good price for the distance. What alot of people don't realize is that most car hauling companies are actually brokers. Orchastrating loads from here to there. They post loads on boards (central dispatch for example) and see who will pick up where ever for what price. This is why often cars do not get there on time  - EXAMPLE: a run gets posted from Detroit to Milwaukee for lets say $200 on an open trailer. (also understand guys doing the hauling are looking to haul full loads and often have space for a car or two) Anyway the load gets posted..a week or two passes with no reponse. Now  load gets reposted but this time it's at $250... on and on, you get the idea...... I actually thought about putting this a a seperate post so everyone could see how this often works. Anyway.............
Belive me the guy doing the actual hauling is most often working for less than the price you pay because the broker
takes his cut. Its very similar to any other common carrier trucking senario.
