I got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: March 10, 2006 - 07:19:15 PM »
I got the picture in the mail today that the previous owner of the car found and sent on to me.
 Ain't she beautiful. :faint:

Best guess is the picture was taken in the late 70s probably after it first paint job. I know the 70 I owned years ago had a problem with the plum crazy color flaking off the hood.
Do you notice anything about the car?
It looks to have after market side moulding. The fender tag sezs it came with a white logitudinal stripe. Probably stripped off for the paint job and the mirrors appear aftermarket. The one that came on the car when I got it was a painted plastic racing mirror. I believe I can almost see the magnum wheels.

That thing looks sooo....Welch's Grape Juice delicious! I bet you got the shudders and chills just by looking at that pic. Makes you wonder how it could have gone from that to the state it is in now. Look slike the rims on there are the same ones you have on it, American Racing mags, if you look at the rim lip, they look the same.

Maybe you can photoshop the picture and try to replicate the white strip to see how it'd look?

Gonna be one sharp car when done, no question...!

I hear ya with the Plum Crazy. Mine all but dissapeared after sitting for a little while.
A few things. It looks like theres a black side stripe under the molding, and did it have T/A type side exhaust, or is it just the pic  ???

Fender tag says white stripe down the side. I think that is some after market moulding they put on. When I got the car the only thing down the side was adhesive. The picture does play tricks on ya. It does look as if T/A type exhaust was on the car but I would say no. Cut outs in the valance and a traditional exhaust set-up when I got the car.

It does look like moulding. When I got the car there was just a long line of adhesive down the sides of the car. Fender tag says a V6W White longitudinal stripe

I'd say it was aftermarket side molding, the '72 fenders I acquired for replacements had side molding that was held on by metal studs on the fender w/screw thru holes at each end, same as my vinyl top trim.   :bigshades:
