won or lost whats the fastest NON-mopar you have ever matched up against? :-/  For me i think it must be a 427 cammer a guy had in his AC cobra...that car flat out was a
fire ball!! that car was up in AK. when i was stationed at Ft.Wainwright. I know there are quuite a few AK. Mopars on here, have you seen it?my 440 was a stocker and it showed when i ran him:(

THE Fastest Mopar I faced at the track in my 440 Duster, was during time trials.  ;D

I was up against a friend's 70 Hemi Cuda/auto. He dialed in 10.70 in Super Stock SS/E or C class. I'd have to find some pix and see for sure. And I was running a dial in of 12.60's or similar.  :D

Well, this was just a time trial so the green light came on for both of us at the same time.  ;)

He wheel stands, my foot is right to the metal, but it seemed like a nightmare! I was like frozen in time and going 2 mph and he was gone!!! WOW! What else can I say?  :)

I mean he was picking up his time slip and headed back to the pits before I crossed the finish line!!!  :(
An exageration, but that's what it felt like IMHO.  :(  :o

I never raced my friends 68 KR500, but I did drive it and it was the fastest stock muscle car I have ever driven from stop light to stop light. Hooked up good and pulled hard past 130mph before letting off. I'd have a hard time staging against that car if I knew it was right! 428 had to be underrated on HP just like our Hemis, 440's etc. !!!!!!!!!!!   xs

There are a few AC Cobras up here that I know of, but I'm not sure what they have in them. I'm not even sure if they are real or kits. I take that back, 1 is real for sure.
I've raced some fast cars up here, but one that sticks out is a 69 427 Camaro that beat me. I did give him one helluva run though.  Stayed with him from the light till about 100 MPH. All he got on me was a fender! We started going through a curve, and I started a 4 wheel drift, so I shut down.
There are plenty of cars around that'll blow me in the weeds around here, but by next summer most of em will be childs play! There will always be someone faster then you, that's all there is to it! :(
My buddy has a 10 sec Coronet R/T that he drives on the street occasionally, and there are others capable of that as well. :o :o

This is not my story its my Dads:

When my old man was young he had a friend whos dad was a Chry Executive and it was either in 67 or 68 when this story took place.  Well as we know the exectuives get to take home Concept Cars, Pilot Cars, ect.  Well my Dad friends Dad took home a Concept Daytona or Superbird all my Dad says is he rembers the big wing!!!  He was only like 10 or 11 at the time.  As its told the Executive oldest son took the car out on Woodward Ave (Michagain) well he started drag racing the car and I guess he was drinking as well and he totaled the car during a race!!!  When the Exec pick up his son he asked him how it happened???  He told him "I was racing and the desgin was good he didnt loose a race all night!!!"  LOL!!!  Well according to my Dad he said that it set Chry back a year or so on the desgin!!!

Hey when you first posted about that 427 Cammer I had no ida what you were talking about  ????????  Then my friend was on a web-site looking up info for the 429 Semi-Hemi and we came accross the Info on the Cammer and I have to say that is an Impressive engine.  I mean for back then that was leaps and bounds!!!

"Cammer is the name pinned to the little known, amazing engine produced by Ford starting in 1964. The 427 cammer was amazingly powerful. The secret behind Chalmers factory rated 616 horsepower (@7500 RPM) with a single carburetor or 658 horsepower (@7500) with two carburetors, lies under the abnormally large valve covers, namely, a single overhead camshaft. There's two camshafts in the 427-cammer (the reason this big V-8 can get to 7500 RPM).  By now you may have guessed that the cammer is based on the multi- application 427 block. One of its various forms. I wish I could remember them all. Side-oilers, top-oilers, high-risers, medium-risers, and low-risers, among others. These mills came in various vehicles, including Galaxies, Fairlanes, Mustangs, Cougars, Mercury Marauders, Mercury Comets, AC Cobras, GT-40's, etc (Mike Greene). Regardless, the cammer itself was intended for racing only, but there are a few which have made it into the "street", making life a nightmare for, in many cases younger, but less vital, hemi's, LS6 454s, and even the boss 429."

Fastest non mopar that I went up against was a 65 vett-stingray. It was my friends fathers car. 454 cid with about $20,000 in the engine alone. He showed the car. He won the nationals twice with it. Man was that a nice car. Oh, it ran with NOS as well. When you looked at the car, you would have never have known that two tires came off the car when it was going down a hill, lol!! was that story funny. He sold it about for $23,000 cash. Man, did he ever dust me. I figured that before hand but, ahh what the hell.
he has a 39 Ford Coupe now, 355 cid (all aluminum), supercharged w/blower. He had the car appraised before paint & int. for $107,000. The paint alone cost him $25,000 and the interior was close to $10,000.
He had it dyno'd and it ran a 645hp rear wheel.
I don't think I will be that anxious to go this time........
Ahh, maybe for fun.  ;D

The car has been in the family since new and he has spent the $$$ over time. I guess he didn't really advertise much. The guy who bought it came to his door with a bag of money so I guess it was an offer he didn't want to turn down.
