'70 mirror bezels??
« on: March 25, 2006 - 07:49:35 AM »
I heard the '70 mirror bezels were different than other years they were smaller, is this true?
Anyone know the part number?
Thanks!

If you are refering to the Racing Mirror the foot was shorter in 1970 (and cooler).

Actually, no not the mirror itself I am aware of the shorter pedestal. I mean the round bezel the remote mirror control threads into. I was told it was smaller for 1970 or possible 1970-71. Just wanted to see if that was correct and what years bezels I had. Also how is the round bezel  connected to the door panel?

Funny thing about my car is it has the chrome racing mirror listed in it's fender tag (G-33) but the hole was never punched in the door panel. I don't have the original mirror although I was able to pick up a 70 correct one for my car. Only thing I can think of was the hole was never punched and the remote wire was inside the door or the panel was replaced before I got the car.

Thanks!

Barry posted some clever engineering drawings on his site. Hope it helps.

As far as I know, the 70-74 E-body bezels were the same. They closely resemble the B-body bezels too. Sorry I don't have a pic to show you. They don't attach to the door panel. They screw onto the mirror adjuster, and have a clip on the inner part of the door to hold it in place.

The chrome interior bezel that screws onto the mirror remote control and sits against the door panel I've heard is supposed to be the small one - the bezels came in different sizes. Mine has a part # ( I think this is it ) 6027182. 1 1/4" total diameter.
