Jack and tire wrench storage question
« on: November 04, 2012 - 09:07:42 AM »
Does the tire wrench and jack mast rest against each other in the metal U-shaped bracket? This seems like a poor design as the tire wrench and mast would get scratched up from new? I'm ready to put mine in and just want to make sure before I damage more stuff on my car.

yeah that looks right. remember when chrysler slammed these cars together they werent thinking about it being a collectors item like it is today. so a jack getting scratched wasnt a concern.

there should be a felt pad for the jack to rest on

There's a felt pad on the top side.  Nothing on the bottom side.

So what if the handle gets scratched from the mast sitting on it.  The assembly will never be taken out of the car once it's installed.  You'll never see it.  It's just for show.

I hope no one uses the original jacks to change a tire.  They are very dangerous and put stress on the bumpers.  I'm going to carry a scissor style jack from a newer car in the trunk.  They are small, light and a lot safer.  My original jack is just for looks and will never be used for service.
