fluid dont want to flow
« on: March 23, 2006 - 04:51:56 PM »
ok,replaced my caliper, while trying to bleed the brakes, the fluid barley flows out of the bleeder screw, I tried this useing a power bleeder and by pumping the brakes manually.. what could cause this? even if I leave the bleader screw off it still wont flow out..

Can we take a walk upstream to narrow the problem? Try taking the brake hose off the caliper. It should drip without even pumping the pedal. If so, then it has to do with the new caliper. I'm just curious, but if you close the bleeder screw and pump the pedal, how does it feel?

I had this problem last year when I bought it, it took a while of pumping to get the fluid to flow semi decent. both sides sides are like this up front... I replaced the caliper because there was a very minor leak in the seal.. I remember last year it looked like there was a little water and dirt that came out, I kept bleeding untill i seen fresh fluid...

dould it be there is a air lock at the master cylinder? newer cars have bleeders on the master.  :dunno:

Any chance you may have a colapsed brake hose? You'll never see an internal kink or colapse. I'de start from one point and work backwards or forwards depending what you pick. I've replaced alot of brake hoses that were "fine yesteday" because of unequall braking or pulling.Take the hose off and see if the flow increases. At least you run less risk of getting brake fluid all over the engine compartment. If hte hoses aren't the issue, then you may need to get into the proportioning valve and the master. Is the other caliper doing this too? Or is it only that one?

well,  i guess I figured the problem of my master cylinder fluid was going down, a very small hole turned into a big one on the rear brake line, although I replaced and bleed all 4, they pressure when bleeding seemed to be weak, but the brakes are working perfect now...
