Differences in cuda battery trays??
« on: April 01, 2006 - 06:18:18 AM »
My 70 'cuda has a 72-74 battery tray in it from Year One - is there much of a difference between this one and a correct one (or noticeable enough once the battery is in?

On my 70 Challenger, one of the rods that holds the batter down, goes into the inner fender. This is a total guess, but in later years, they might have done it a different way. There couldn't be a different sized battery tray. That wouldn't seem to make sense.  :clueless:

Every original battery tray that I've seen for the last 35 years has been black. I've never seen one painted body color from the factory, well except for black cars of course.

My '70 battery tray is body color, some color still left on it. You may wanna consider contacting a dealership they are reproducing the battery tray now. I have repro one from the Paddock and the new MOPAR one is far better quality with a subtle difference. The bends are cleaner than the original too and the repro bends are worse than the original.
I have included photos of what is left of the body color paint on my tray. Also a couple of comparison shots of the new MOPAR tray and the Paddock's chinese one (the one with the labels). The MOPAR one is more expensive but I only wanna do this once! I hope this helps!
