A/C Evaporator repair/replacement
« on: April 03, 2006 - 01:19:48 PM »
i've got a 73 Challenger with the original A/C evaporator.  Pulled it while rebuilding my heater box and found that it's in great shape except for the threaded connector, which has been badly cross threaded.  It looks like the alum pipe passes through this fitting, which is welded/brazed on.   Can this be removed and the fitting replaced?  If not, does anybody know the part number for the Evaporator.  I'd like to find a replacement instead of a "Universal" part if at all possible.

Thanks for the help.

I would think any A/C shop should be able to repair it. You can also try oldairproducts.com, I used them to repair the A/C lines for my 73.

Thanks.  If I can't get it fixed locally, I'll give them a call.  They don't list anything, but who know's.  They might have something on the back shelf.
