Also not really a newbie, but new to this discussion board
« on: July 30, 2006 - 05:25:29 PM »
 :newbie:

Long time Mopar guy (since 1979), but just found this group.  I'm ten years into my current project car ('71 'Cuda), and still have a long way to go.   :violin:  My website has been around that long, and you may remember it:

http://www.networksplus.net/standingwater/wantlist.htm

I'm currently doing rust work in the trunk and quarters -- took half the summer just to carefully cut out everything.  There's some pics on my website.  Just welded the new gas tank braces to the floor halves today, apparently successfully (new to MIG).  Really like those flap discs for final grinding of the welds!   :grinyes:

Thanks to all for the welcome!  I'll likely have some questions, etc. to post later but am finding the site's search feature very useful.  Many of my outstanding questions have already been answered (like tailpanel paint).   :chatting:

:jumping:   Thanks again!  Waiting on a self-darkening helmet to arrive before I MIG-in the new trunk floor (all swiss-cheesed and ready to go).  106 degrees F here today ... not too eager to work out there tomorrow ...    :dunno:

Thinking I might open up that new stud welder, and attack a door crunch this morning before it gets too hot ... about 95 by noon ...

Dobe was only 33 pounds when rescued, 42 when I got her ("she won't get more than 50 pounds or so"), now well over 70 pounds and still of thin/healthy shape ...  Picture may have been at 50 pounds or so.  Neat dog, but ...  :22yikes:

Welcome lugmut, cool site here and cool car you have, and dog.  Man it must be nice to have a 71 Cuda, thats what I would like but never found one, or one I could afford!  So I'm thankful for my 70 440 4 speed Cuda, someday I'll get to restore her. Lugnut is cool name, and being a 71, I guess you're right hand thread all the way,ha ha!

Get that car inside ASAP to slow the decay!  Building my workshop was about three years of my ten so far ...

The door repair today, via a new stud welder, went much better than expected.  Have pics, and will post info in the Body Work forum shortly.
