Need help identifying these brackets -- please :-)
« on: April 12, 2006 - 10:35:54 AM »
I'm trying to select the set brackets needed for factory A/C on a big block.  Here are the brackets I have left over from our 383 challenger A/C conversion -- and I don't remember which ones were what.

Can anyone help me on this?

The larger versions of these pics are here  http://www.ridesthatrock.com/misc/brackets/

Thanks much

Image 13 is the only one that looks familar to me and I believe that is for the e-body AC setup.  Really the only reason I say that is because I have one and it must of come from the convertible ac system.

yes please shelbydogg - a pic would be helpful.   Trying to provide the brackets needed to bolt up the AC compressor (off a 318) to a 383.   I have the idler pulley already --  So far we're saying 4&8 needed for the compressor...  any other brackets Im missing?   Thanks

Redline, I 'll have the car out on Sunday for our Easter car show. If nobody else posts any pics before then I'll have them on here Sunday night. I installed a complete bigblock A/C 4 pulley setup on my non A/C '70 RT.

P.S. you need the bottom compressor to head bracket and a bracket to hold the throttle return spring. Those 2 can't be used off of the small block compressor. I'll include pics.  Also, if the compressor came off of an UNDERDASH add-on unit, it's missing a valve that goes between the return line and compressor body. (expensive lesson)

thanks shelbydogg -- I'm talking with a restoration company looking to buy the necessary brackets and they're pressed for time -  so I think we'll be done by this weekend...  but thanks for the offer.

So far I have:
1. unknown 2. unknown 3. unknown 4. compressor strut 5. unknown 6. throttle spring bracket?? 7. idler pulley bracket 8. compressor strut  9. unknown   10 & 11 are pretty big, but unknown 12. idler pulley spacer 13. alternator bracket

IF ANYONE has a service manual diagram that might help.

I learned that Year One sells a set of A/C brackets for $150  but cant find a picture of them.  I think I have more that that represented here.  Any suggestions on a fair price for these?

wow !  thanks for all the pictures!  now I have to find WALDO!   ;D
if someone knows how to look up part numbers.... #11 is perfect  p/n 2206048  #12 is p/n 2806165   but #10 is barely legible ab0503c  where "a" looks like 2 but could be 3, "b" looks like 8 or 3, and "c" looks 9 but could be 8.   so maybe #10 is 2805039   ...     :dunno:

I know I have the bracket in the following pic...  got to dig that out....   not sure I have seen the one in the next pic.

Anyone else got a diagram?
