once again i'd like to thank all the guys who origanally responded to this thread. unfortunately all of you were off base.. but after all this is a learning experience. since hindsight has 20/20 vision the problemis obvious after reading the thread. any way .... the problem was a defective lifter even though brand new. since it was on an intake valve
it didn't exhibit the carb poping an unopened exhaust valve would  but obviously affected  engine smoothness.
moral ..take nothing for granted....................

Lifter problems seem to have become the norm this why I gebnerally use solids where possible

So very hard to fix things online and remember it all down to the little things that we find last. It happens.
