Finally getting to the project..

My obsession is a 1970 Challenger.  Nothing special (base 318, auto) but an orginal AZ car.  I picked it up about 10 years ago, drove it for four years, and treated as a rolling resto.  The story gets fun after I was transfered away from AZ for my last four years in the USMC.  I left the car sealed up in long term storage at the local USAF base.  Skip forward four years and I return to a stripped hulk.  They even stole the jack stands!!  The car was embedded about eight inches in the mud.  Ironically, four days after getting the car up off the ground and back on a set of tires, I get a call from the base telling me that I can't have a car up on blocks.  The local airmen (or dependents) stole another set of tires and left the car on cinder blocks...

Now my rolling resto has turned into a full teardown/rebuild.  I am about done with the tear down and planning to spend the next few months working over the damaged spots.  I am looking for recommendations on a paint/body shop around Tucson AZ and will be asking alot of (probably dumb) questions as I go ahead with this undertaking.

The engine was stripped down to the manifold, most of the external trim pieces gone, seats/steering wheel, POS stereo/speakers ripped out, all my new rear suspension parts (which i stupidly left in the trunk), and the windows were left open so the interior was ruined by the summer monsoon rain/heat.

On a good note, the glass was left intact and the bumpers were still on.  The body survived with mainly surface rust with a few small rust thrus.  I have already found most of the bigger parts (at least enough to put the car back together).  I am still missing the small detail parts, but those will come in time.

Thanks for the feedback.  The attached pics are condition as of about two weeks ago.  Engine is now out and the sanding has begun.

I would of cried!!      Welcome to the site!  Sad story . . .    Glad to see you finally got your project going after all the setbacks!  Looks like a pretty solid car too!!  Hope you enjoy the site and I'm sure the parts you'll need will show up somewhere!!  ANyone else on the base building a Challenger??

Welcome to the site, outofcadence!   That sucks your car was stripped while you were away, but at least you've found most of the larger items you'll need for it.  The little things can always come later on.
