    Reviews I have seen suggest the GV unit is far Superior to the A-518.

    Although more expensive you simply cut split gears in a 518 (GV 6-Speed) and have that instant demand from a stock unit. What's the final drive ratio with a 518? Gear Vendors is 0.78:1 so 3:91's run like 3:05's in OD.

    I remember putting i my 1st B&M kit about 30 years ago... and ended up putting something in backwards!!  :22yikes:

    I believe it is .69 to 1  in OD :cheers: I will double check that ratio.

    I'd like to try to rebuild a tranny someday, I've done engines for about 25 years or so but never tried a tranny. I've done the shift kits and actually have the trans-go stuff in my 727. Any info would be appriciated. Thanks.

    Ok, I have heard a ton of brand names being thrown around. Let me throw this out there and say you get what you pay for most of the time. I checked up on some of these products and some range from a couple hundred for shift kits to 2700 for whole new transmissions. Heck I love the idea of an overdrive but not for crazy money!

    Let me re-phrase my question. As a transmission newbie and someone that is on a budget, what is the best budget transmission over haul (rebuild) kit. One that I can put together with the basic knowledge learned from a book and one that doesn't cost a $1000 to buy.

    Bottom line, the best bang for the buck!
