Rockers and Pushrods for a 340
« on: April 21, 2006 - 08:02:53 PM »
Ok guys and gals, the cuda has been green lighted on a go to be street ready in two months. I pretty much have everything i need except a set of rockers and and Pushrods. The heads are going to be some J heads with stock springs, unless when i call comp cams they recommend replacing them. What i need is a good strong set of lifters and rockers. The rockers do not need to be the adjustable ones. Trying to get her on the road as i do not know when my beater is going to take a nuts and i have decided to get the cuda run as a replacement. I was thinking a set of factory stamped rockers. Specs on the engine are as follows:

'69 340 Block Bored .030 OVER, All cyclinders have been sleeved due to some scratchs and wanting added strength.
SRP light wieght forged racing Pistions
Eagle I Beam Rods
Comp Cams 20-214-4 Camshaft Hydrolic
Gross lift .470 intake and exhaust
Duration at .050 224 intake and exhaust
Stock 340 intake manifold

It is pretty much just a nice little street motor. Not looking for a high output yet. Just looking to get her on the road. In about two to three years she is coming completely apart for a complete restomodifications. Oh yea the compression should be about 9.5:1 or so. All feed back and conserns are more then welcome. I love all forms a feedback including the ones that tell me that i am smoking crack. Eventually the motor is destaned to get a set of eddy heads and intake or maybe a little bigger.

GO WITH ROLLERS ALL THE WAY. THE EXTRA $ IS $ WELL SPENT. WIPING OUT A FLAT TAPPET CAM IS A MAJOR HASSLE
& NO GOOD FOR YOUR NEWLY REBUILT ENGINE. I LEARNED THIS THE HARD WAY !!!!!!!!

you may as well run the stock rockers with a hyd cam , the next upgrade would be the ductile iron rockers that have a more accurate ratio , after thet you need a roller rocker , , I don`t recommend alum on the street though
