Any stock 727 will handle 500hp+ easily....just, performance wise you'll want it shifting quicker.  :thumbsup:
904's just as good, though not quite as strong, but you gain on average 0.10th on 1/4 in a same set up car.
But with the mods needed to make it as tough as a stock 727, the 727 could use that money on engine mods instead....

You would need a stock rebuild kit. Would you want bushings,filter, all thrust washers ,both bands etc( in other words everything new) ?
Yes they did but they were a little heavier duty than your 340 727

That being said, where can I find the most complete kit containing the best parts for a rebuild kit, one maybe with an overdrive for the best price? B&M? Summit? Jegs? GearVendors? TracTrans ;D ?

Need the info!!! :swaying:

I spoke to gear vendors about the unit for $450 and that we should wait until the summer to get everything worked out.

Not yet my friend but once the car is finished and had it's test runs we're going to hoist it up and take some.


Mods needed for the GV gear box to fit the Challenger were:

 - Custom made driveshaft (you can use your original, just shorten it).
 - About 1"-1-2" of clearance around the unit in the underside shell, which is placed directly after tailshaft.
 - H-pipe exhausts should need no mods to fit, X-Pipes require the right tube to be bent about 0.5"-1" to clear.
 - Heat shield around the GV sump as it is about 0.5" from the exhaust.
