Rally Wheel Question
« on: May 02, 2006 - 07:27:30 AM »
I have a set of 15" Rallys with tires that I'm selling, there are 3 bolts on the back of the wheel holding the center cap. Are these wheels 15x7 or 15x6.5?
Thanks for the help.

I assume you have a tape measure ?
measure across the rim inside the lip where the bead of tire sits

The tire is mounted on the rim or I would have tried that. These are a old set of wheels off a 71 Challenger, I was wondering if it is true that a 7" wide wheel uses 5 bolts to mount the center cap or 3? I was told if it has only 3 bolts it's a 6.5" wide wheel. Is this true?

 :clueless:

You are basing this on the center cap? They all should have 5 holes for screws to hold them on. Maybe someone took a short-cut with yours? Are there 2 extra holes in the wheel that aren't being used?

'70-'71 wheels have 5 holes, '72 up have 3 holes, no way of knowing without looking at either the part number or the stampings on the inner rim.

I was told that if the wheels only have 3 bolts the wheels are 15x6.5. Could you tell me what year they stopped making the 15x6.5's?

78 or so was the last year for the 6.5" rims
