Roadlamp Switch Location 71 cuda
« on: December 03, 2002 - 10:51:59 AM »
I am installing the roadlamps to my car and was wondering if anyone has a pic or diagram of the switch location. I know it mounts at the bottom of the switch panel, but need to know exactly where. Any opinions and suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the ad
Dale

440six - let me know if you got the info you need.  I have a picture of the switch location that I took last year, if you still need one, I can post it.

440six,

This picture is of a 1970 Cuda.  This is Tim Conrad's car, it was restored by Dennis Kohr in 2001 and won the MCG 2002 car show points chamionship, so I'm pretty sure this location is correct.  I think the location is the same for both the 1970 and 1971 models, but I have never personally seen a 1971.

For your switch, are you using a mopar switch or an aftermarket switch?

440six,

I did some more looking and I found one picture in the Barracuda Challenger source book, it is of a 1970 non-rallye dash and it shows the road lamp switch mounted under and slightly to the right of the dimmer switch, similar to your latest post.  This is from a copy of the 1970 Barracuda sales brouchure, and its not a very clear picture.

I also looked through other pictures of cars that I have, and I found 2 with road lamps, they are not very good, one is of a 1970 AAR Cuda with a Rallye dash and the switch is mounted like the picture I posted, the other is of a 1971 Cuda with a non rallye IP and the switch is also mounted low.  I'm am not sure if these 2 cars are factory locations.

I keep looking into this and let you know if I come up with anything.

sixpackbird,
I found a nice pic from the April issue of Canadian Classic  Mag of a nicely restored 71 cuda 440 sixpac and the switch is located under the dash like in your pic. The article said it was restored to the factory specs so I'm convinced it to be correct. It looks like in 71 they were mounted under the dash and in the switch panel for 70 model year.
Thanks for all your help in getting me going in the right direction

Ok, I have confirmation, the rally dashes they were mounted under the dash, non rallye they were mounted in the switch panel. I have had several people confirm this.
Now another question where through the firewall does the wire go through? I guess I should of asked that question at the same time.
