When do we get to see a picture of the winner??  Just kidding, I hate those kind of shows that will let a car enter the wrong class.

Actually, I'd be interested in seeing the PT Cruiser.  I want to see what makes it better than the other cars.

Actually, I'd be interested in seeing the PT Cruiser.  I want to see what makes it better than the other cars.

It probably sat on air bags, had "dubs", 4,000 Watts of stereo, and an excessive amount of plastic added on (body kit, etc.)  This is just going off what I saw at Carlisle last year when it came to PT's... :screwy:

Man, nice pics!  I'm envious! I've never been to a show around here (Georgia) where there were so many Mopars at a show.   This is Chevy country. Heck, even at the Year One Experience last weekend there were maybe 20-25 at the most and several of those were newer pick-ups and even a PT Cruiser.  I'm sure he didn't win the Year One Cup.

Just wanted to let everyone know if I run into a picture of the PT cruiser I'll post it. I never took a picture of it as I was trying to get shots of the muscle cars. We really did have a good turn out of mopar cars. I never got any shots of the Dusters or the Little Red Express truck with a 392 HEMI in it. It looked like a great conversion and the truck looked great inside and out. I also missed some of the Chargers that were there as to many to look at and take pictures of. As for the PT Cruiser it was black with flames on the side but that's all I remember about it as it never really caught my eye to step over and look at it. With over 700 cars it was hard to try and look at all of them. I bought and drove Pontiac Firebirds starting back in 1974 and owned 4 before switching over to Mopar cars in 1979 so I had to check out all the Firebirds and Trans Am's that were there as I still like the looks of them.

I'm Missed the show. It was the KSHE radio car show and I was stuck doing RUST REPAIR on my Cuda. If you are close enough, come out for MONSTER MOPAR WEEKEND in September. 8,9,10. It's a HUGE show with high payout drag classes. There wont be any Firebirds there though.

This was posted on my SLAM (STLouis AREA MOPARS) Group. by a member called SPIKED PUNCH

"So who was all there? I had a few flyers for the
group, but did not see any other SLAMers the whole
day.
Won first place in the Mopar class with my PT Cruiser,
BTW."

"> Haha, Was that you that took 1st. There are a lot of
E-body owners mad about a PT Cruiser beating them. The
guy took 2nd had a Challenger."

Spiked Punch Wrote:
"I figured there had to be several upset people about
that. But hey, judges decided on their own, and
sometimes logic can not be applied as to why. When I
got to the show that morning, I just gave up on
winning, shined my car up, and parked my tired butt in
a chair for the afternoon, enjoying a turkey leg and
lemonade. I did not even go to the awards ceremony.
One of my friends ran up to me when they announced it,
and I accused him of lying.

Maybe this might make all of them happy:
A year ago, I was in another judged car show in this
one horse town. PTs had their own class, and just two
others were entered with me. Both stock compared to my
modified. I took third place because my hood was not
up.
So you win some and you loose most.

I do have some pics from the show in my blog:

i just had to chime in here as this is a sore spot for me. call me a sore loser if you like, but this doesnt make any sense to me at all. last summer, after spending hours polishing my 70 cuda, i entered a local show and was beat out by a pt cruiser. it had strobe lights, and tons of other aftermarket junk hanging on it. the only reason it even caught my eye was because of the flashing strobes. i appreciate all that ma mopar has produced but lets get serious. pt cruisers are a dime a dozen. how often do you see an e body cruisin around these days?

Here is something to also keep in mind for all those bringing their cars to shows. Always keep an eye on your car when you have it parked, there are a lot of losers out there looking for parts or worse.

A buddy of mine entered a local car show with his 383 Road Runner back in the day. He walked away to check out some of the other mopars and when he came back he assumed nothing was wrong. The next day when he was at home he poped the hood only to find that someone had stolen his fender tag!!! What a major loss. He later ended up selling that car because of that reason.

Lock up your rides when you walk away and if you plan on keeping everything open have a near by buddy at the show watch your ride while you take a break. Better safe than sorry!
