When I first got this car, it was pretty much stripped. No engine/tranny/nothing in the engine bay. The majority of the wires were there though in the inside and engine bay.
I dropped in a 383 w/ a 727 trans. Outfitted the engine compartment with the missing stuff. In relation to my problem, I bought a new voltage regulator, nuetral safety switch, alternator, distributor, etc.
After firing the engine for the first time, I noticed that when I turned off the engine by the key, you could hear the starter winding down. So, I swapped out the switch thinking that it was inop. But the problem still existed.
I removed the starter soleniod lead from the voltage regulator to prevent the starter from continually to engage. The engine runs if I start the car by touching the solenoid lead to the positive of the voltage regualtor to engage the starter.
I'm to the point of the restoration where I'm ready to take it to the paint booth, but I need the car to run by the ignition switch.
Any ideas?
