mirrors
« on: May 14, 2006 - 10:22:29 AM »
Just looking for some input on outside drivers mirrors ( Drivers and Passengers side) My car appears to have come from the factory with the standard non remote mirror however I do have 2 mounting holes on the drivers side door that at one time had a mirror. The vintage picture of my car looks as if it had body color racing mirrors added on. My question is this what do you think looks better on a Plum Crazy. White top, white stripe 70 Challenger a body color mirror or the chrome version of the racing mirror? I have decieded to put mirors on both side for safety concerns and just can't decied. :feedback:

Depends on wheel combo and other accesories. If you are going to put a lot of chrome on the car like set of S/S Cragars, wheel lip moldings, or SE trim then go with the chrome mirrors. If you are going with a set of Magnum 500s or Rallyes and not much other chrome/stainless then the body color mirror might match better. In either case, I would personally rather have the chrome mirrors....

I always liked the chrome to add a little shine to it, but they are hard to come by in good shape. Any you buy will probably have to be sent out for rechrome. So painted mirrors would be the cheaper way to go. Either way, you can't go wrong in my opinion as I love plumb-crazy.

Thats what I was thinking too.

ALSO:  the passenger mirror on a 70 is NOT adjusted to "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" dimensions and you really cant see much out of it, though its better than nothing.   I think they are reproducing the Chrome mirrors but they are still not cheap.  IIRC, saw a pair of NOS-boxed up ones in chrome go for over $1K on eBay a few months back, but my memory could be off a few duckets.

I'm kinda partial to the chrome mirrors myself. I think they add a little more to the overall appearance to the car.
