Re-Chrome. How bad beore you give up?
« on: May 15, 2006 - 03:15:49 PM »
How bad does a piece have to be before it's no longer able to be Re-chromed? or is it like anything else with time and money all things are possible.

Since any pitting has to be filled in I would think almost any piece is salvagable.

What say you.

What part are you talking about? Maybe it is being re-popped? I guess it all depends on the shop that does the work. As long as we are just talking pits, it should be salvagable. If it is bent or twisted or dinged, then it is up to the guys doing the work. Try Nu-Chrome.      :grinno:

The piece I'm looking at is a mirror. No bends fairly good shape just pitted. I know they repop them but if I can save one I will.

I had a very fugly mirror re-chromed. Pits, chrome peeled off the top, that didn't matter. They have to strip them anyway. I don't think you'll have a problem.

I didn't think I would.
But if I ever want to see it again in one piece I'll keep it away from Nu-Chome
