need help 360 problems

how are all of you?my saga continues,what i have is a 360.I went to prime the oil system,had good pressure and then noticed oil running out of the passenger side.I had my suspisions that the oil pan gasket was leaking but that wasn't were it was comming from.Had a friend run the drill,so i could watch under the car and it turned out the gasket behind oil filter housing was leaking.now this is the housing that the oil filter goes on.i removed the housing to find two gaskets in there but the center of the housing is making contact before the the outer part of it makes contact with the gasket.my question is what kind gasket should be there,is it rubber,paper or what?and how thick should this be?now i dont think it should have two in there because that only causes problems.but it must be pretty thick in order to seal without bottoming out first.thanks-------------the clown

I had one do this one time , I put it in a press and lightly put more " dish" in it so it would not bottom out in the middle first. :thumbsup:

 :iagree: You need to press the metal the opposite way than what it is is compressed when installed so the outer ring make contact first. About 1/4 3/8" should work. This needs done whenever you remove the plate or you will have a leak.

Do you have the cast 90 degree housing?  If so they take a compressed paper type gasket on the OD and a thicker cork type gasket in the middle. I found that the cork gasket was not getting compressed on mine.  I would think that pressing a cast iron housing will only result in cracks.  I'm not sure if the straight housing/adaptor is aluminum.  If so you might have more luck.

No, we are not talking about pressing a cast one . That WILL crack it!!! :22yikes:

I contacted Matt at hensley performance and we got it squared away,i think the machine shop overtorqued the plate without the seal (cork) in the middle.and no it wasn't his shop that did that it was a local shop near me.thanks for the help guy's we fired it up last night and its got no leaks and sounds incredible-------------the happy clown
