I just bought a 1970 Barracuda GC 'vert with a 318 and a column shifted 904 trans. I don't know much about the smaller automatic. Could you get it with a floor shifter, and if so was it slapstik?

Yes.
All console Automatic shifter E-Bodies used the "Slap-Stik" detent shifter assembly.
