    Hi!

    I wonder if anyone could tell me how many hp I have in my 360 from 1977. I have a dual plane manifold with a 650 cfm spreadbore Holley. I am just curious cuz I am kinda new with this.

    Hi Linka, and welcome.

    I'm not sure if your car is still stock.  Is it really a Holley spreadbore?  I thought only Rochester (Q-Jet) and Carter (Thermoquad) made spreadbores?

    Here's a link that I found that l found showing some HP figures.  For a stock 1977 360 with a 2 barrel carb, they list 155hp with 275 ft/lbs of torque.  Since now it has a dual plane intake with a Holley 650 it's hard to say what the HP is without putting it on a dyno as there are multiple variables such as compression, cam, wear on rings, etc... that'll effect the overall HP of your engine.

    You can count on 200-230HP at the flywheel, if it is tuned good.

    Good strong motor.

    A simple cam change would do some good for you. :bigsmile:

    Ok, thanx for all the good answers... I have a crower cam but I don´t know exacktly how strong it is but I have a paper on that somewhere..  :dunno: I will go and look for it and then I will come back and then maybe you guys could tell me more about the engine and how many hp I could have.

    I like to add that the 360 probably can't really use much more than a 650 in the stock state anyways with the small cam it came with. You Crower cam could anywhere in the area of 5 - 15 HP. Maybe a total of 20 with the 4bbl.

    Part#: 20-244-4
    Duration: 292 310

    If I get a single plan intake manifold, ported 318 heads, a 650 Holley spreadbore and the rest of the engine is fine, can anyone guess how many hp I will have in my 360? :drama:

    I couldn't find any info on that part number, but if I understand the numbers right, that cam is pretty darn big. You have the right idea here... cam, intake, carb., and heads are the areas that can help you most. With this cam, and a single plain intake, you will need to go to at least 2500 RPM to get into the power band. At this point, your rear gears come into play. If you have 4:10's, then you are into the power band at 40. If you have 3:23's, you will have to get to 65 to hit that. As for your question of how much horsepower your engine will have... if 155 was stock, then you might be up to 180 or so. Headers would help you out some too. Keep in mind, this engine came from the era when horse power got choked. The low compression ratio hurts you here.

    I saw I wrote the wrong part#, I think this is the right one: Crower 31244
    I want to get 340 heads but it´s pretty hard to find those here in Sweden... at least to a price that won´t ruin you. I have 3:91 at the rear gears. I think I have around 10:1 in compression.  :clueless:

    If it is a stock motor you do not have 10 to 1 compression. More like 8.2 to 1. That cam is WAY too big for stock compression! If you run that cam with the stock low compression and a single plane intake , even with 3.91 gears you will have a low end bog monster.

    What I meant is that I have 10.1 now when I have 318 heads, is that correct?

    I don't think going to 318 unmilled heads is going to change your compression at all. I would not put small port 318 heads on a 360 unless that is all you can get.

    you can pick up 30-40 hp using the 308 truck 360 heads used from 87-92
