POR-15
« on: June 02, 2006 - 08:27:18 PM »
A couple of people on the board recommended POR-15.  I've been researching it, and it looks like a good solution to many problems. My question is this: I've got some light to medium surface rust on my roof, and I plan to replace my vinyl top. Is there any reason to not coat the roof with POR-15 before the top is re-installed?

Personaly I would be worried about it's volumetric displacement making the top ill fitting.I would prolly just hit it with an epoxy primer and call it a day  :dunno:

 :iagree:

I would use POR 15 on the roof...no one would see it yes...but it becomes rock hard and would essentially ruin your roof because you cannot get it off once it is put on. I am only putting POR15 on the chassis and the floorboard. If I were you I would POR 15 the inside of the roof and then treat the outside with rust killing acid or navel jelly. Then sand as much of it off as possible and treat it again until all the rust is gone...then use a good quality expoxy primer and call it good.

This is only my opinion... any body work experts care to chime in?
