A boreing Saturday
« on: June 24, 2006 - 01:02:45 PM »
It's one of those days of apparent wasteful hours, waiting for...............? So I've been on here from time to time today checking the Grandpa's Growler / Carlisle threads etc. so I thought I may as well post a couple pics from a recent show, not too many Mopars as usual, but each one was a quality ride with owner pride too. But I must start off with a "Real" grocery geter  :roflsmiley: hey, at least the guy put in a small block Mopar, of course he needed slicks. BTW the owner said he did all the tube bending for the "cart" by hand, and they were each powder coated ?

Thanks for the pics. Jim.  :worshippy

As for that grocery-getter... it looks to be taller than the tent next to it. That makes me wonder where they park it. Might be a little tough getting that in a standard garage?  :dunno:

It was indeed taller than the tent, and it was functional, he drove it away, after all what trailer could he put it on and still have clerance from utility wires etc. I would guess the height of the cart was about the same as a box style delivery truck, pushing 12 feet. And he showed why it had slicks, did a nice little barking as he left, actually the frame was built much like a heavy duty go cart only with a small block. Now can you imagine some drunk meeting this coming down the road some late Saturday afternoon?  :roflsmiley:

UPDATE on the grocery cart car: I talked to the guy again at another show. The chasis and drive train are from a former drag car, minus the body of course. Bad news part: it's not a small block mopar, when I first saw this I like most everyone else was amazed at the size of the "cart" and as I walked around it before taking that pic I did glance at the engine and see angled plugs in the block, to me that could only mean Mopar small block. As it turns out it is a chebbie 350 bored and built to the gills, it as a race car had been dymo tested at 500+ hp. Upon seeing it again it does indeed have angled plugs into the block but not as severe an angle as our 340 etc. Honestly I've never see this done to any other engine except Mopars. Was this possibly a special gm built racing block? And although he did drive it away from that first show (because it was a local one close to where he lived) he does have a special made trailor to haul it on, it is like a miniture goose neck that sits very low to the road, and he said he has more than onece had to turn around and go another way because of the height. Just wanted to give you the update, not wanting to mislead anyone.
