I think they will fit but I read somehwere that the headlight buckets are different and thus the grille mounts wont be the same. Maybe somone here can reiterate that or go into more detail. Usually its folks wanting to go the other way around putting 72-74 fenders on 70-71 cars

I put a 71 fender on my 74 the only real difference is the marker lights , you'll have to save your head light bucket and hardware and swap them out

It might be a better idea to sell your fender and get a nice one for your '73 . A 71 fender is worth much more then a later one and everyone is looking for '71 only stuff.  The difference could be a thousand dollars or more..

Plus it would be a shame to hack up a nice fender and maybe mess it up

OOps, I just noticed your in  the UK.  Maybe not so easy for you to trade out fenders.  Also, You will need a '73 headlight bucket if you still want to try the swap.  '71 headlight buckets are completely different.

So as I am planning a respray etc next year I wasthinking of getting them while they were available............if they fit ok

The '70 fenders will fit your '73 much better then '71s would.
You would need the headlight brackets from '72 and up or reposition the '70 brackets.
Basicly the '72 up headlights are slightly closer together then the '70 headlights are.

The 71 fender back headlamp buckets are identical to the ones in the 72-74 fenders, while the 70's are completely different. We take 72-74 back buckets and install them into 70 fenders to make 71 fenders. Been there, done that, many times.
The 70 fenders are worth at least twice as much as 72-74 fenders.
