My Cuda is back on track. Project update 10/4/06
« on: October 03, 2006 - 04:06:58 PM »
After seeing Hemidogs project,....   :working:

I got inspired to get some more done this year. I put the rr back in and slapped the old tires on, so it can roll to the blasters.

The fenders are all ready there, and next week the hood and trunk lid will go; then the doors.

The body will get there soon, all will get a coat of epoxy primer.  :bananasmi

I've located a body shop in Mcpherson Kansas, yes the same place where the restoration college is. It's about mid state, so not close, by any means.

Thanks Dog.

That's what my cuda looked like a little while ago. Now it's wearing its first coat of paint.

Anyway, what are your plans? Restoration, same/different color, resto-mod???

Thanks guys.

I build them the way I like it, in other words a stock appearing hotrod.

You wont know what hit you untill the last second.

This is a 5 year project, that I have been planning for 2 years. I bought the car in Nov 2003. Since it isnt a # car, even though I own the original engine; I do have an original 1970 340 engine, that has never been rebuilt.

There are... hmmm over 30 small improvements, but I wont tell anyone what it is untill the combination works. There are so many neat parts for these thing now, I'm like a kid in the candy store.

The rules I will try to stick with are for F.A.S.T racing. Every thing on the Cuda will have a Mopar part number on it.

Stock 340 engine (for the most part) stock ex manifolds and exhaust mufflers.
It takes more than HP to get down the 1/4 mile. So with help from all the mods,
I hope to shave a whole second off the stock times.

I've done it before, for I have won the Muscle Car Nationals in a stock class back in 1989 already. It isn't new to me, but this is the first time I have done an E-body.

Yes, stock F4 paint and dark green inter will be the same. What's on there now is the wrong color.

Called the owner of the shop today, he wants it the way it is; So no blasting.

Were going to settle on a contract and he'll be over to inspect it, go over things, ext...

Probably have to wait some months untill he gets it. Don't know how long it will take.
They're doing a Challenger right now though.  :working:

That means no flying Vacation, just stay at home next year. No Carlisle either.  :(

It's totally out of my hands now. Let the work begin.  :woohoo:

Awesome news!  It is going to suck not having it in the garage for a while though.  The payoff should be well worth it though.

Excellent, so I can watch the car be built from afar :)  Best of luck, and I can't wait to see pics when you get it back.

Keep posting the pictures.  You're not too much further ahead than I am, so it gives me motivation to watch your progress also.  My factory color is the same as yours is now, and I'm still trying to decide if I should keep it that color for the sleeper effect or not.  Got the engine out on Sunday.  Now it's time to tear apart everything else to get to the blaster's.

Looks like a pretty good starting point.  Hopefully someday I'll have people sending me cars like that to do for them!
