Thanks guys. The other thing I have found is that if you go easy enough on the pedal they get around 25 mpg on the highway. Not too shabby for a car like that. Could be better but, hey it's still better than anything I own and with gas prices the way they are its not too bad.

Personally I like the looks of the prowler, it's like a modern Highboy, very sharp looking car.
A black one would would good next to my Challenger!  :ylsuper:

Anyone seen a kit to put a newer style Hemi in one of these? That would be killer to have it setup like the old coupes where the motors covered on top but you can see the Hemi valve covers on the side!  :ylsuper:

You owned 9....I would almost kill just to own one...LMAO

the 253hp Prowler is somewhat under powered, but it still runs the same quarter mile times as a 290hp 340 SIX PAK.....Prowlers only weigh 28-2900 lbs.....

market value has bottomed out and has actually seemed to increase this last year, nice ones are consistently bringing over $30K and some colors are bring closer to $40K....it has been 10 years since production began and nearly 5 since the last one rolled down the line, so they could start appreciating even more in the not to distant future...there were over 11K made, so they might never be really rare, but the novelty will go a long way in the collector car market...

I have owned 9 of them in the last 7 years(still have 3) and they are a blast to drive.....lotsa looks, lotsa comments....very nice daily drivers and mine have been pretty much trouble free...

Yelo 2000, it has just a little over 200 miles on the odometer...it just never was driven much...

Don't get me wrong, I really do like the prowler, I just think its overpriced.

And Bonkers, does that mean that a 318 Challenger is not a cool car, since a stock civic can blister them as well?

Not at all - when you buy 30 year old technology you expect it to come with some limitations in a modern world - your buying nostalgia, not performance. The prowler wreaked high performance from the showroom - wide tires, low stance, two seats, dual exhaust...ect... but on the road it's more like a minivan. My thinking is that if I paid vette-range money for a car that looks like it can chew up and spit out a vette, I'd be pretty pissed if I were being walked by PT cruisers... thats all. It was a big fumble on Plymouths part not offering a V8 or V10 variant - could have been huge.

Besides, you could always drop in a different engine with enough cutting.

Yes, and there are many companies offering serious mods for enthusiasts. I've personally seen a single-turbo prowler than could break the tires loose at 50mph. At $25,000 over the purchase price though I'd rather have a Noble or Superformance Daytona.

Thanks again everyone. Like I said before I just like the looks of the car. I don't care about going fast or getting there fast. I like just looking good and being comfortable while having a cool ride.

a manual tranny was tried in a test mule, but with the trans being in the rear it had to be operated by cables and the results were not that great and the idea was scrapped.....I also drove a test mule called the  'Air Grabber'.....it had a stroker engine and would fry the big tires at will....
