HELP ,Problem with Mopar subframe connectors
« on: May 27, 2006 - 04:07:34 PM »
I bought a set of subframe connectors (bolt on) and after getting them lined up and bloted in on the front the rear blot hole are about an inch below the frame, I can get it close placing a jack under the rear of the sub connector and jacking it up but dont know what that will do to the body. Looks like the notch needs cut out to fit over the frame section that extends forward to let the sub connector fit properly. Anyone have this problem ??

They are made with the intent that you cut a strip of the floor out right above them, then weld the sides where they come through the floors. The "bolt in" is a bit misleading.

I would say bolt in my A**. I wont be cutting my floor but cutting and rewelding them to make them right. what a pain. Guess the charger will get home made connectors. tried to make it east this time because my back missing 4 discs and its real painfull to do anything under the car but im stuck with what I have now.

Here's my old subs, just cut-cut-cut a channel in the floor board and weld them in there!

The other side just has a bump in the carpet, no big deal.

Nothing fancy, just 2 inch square steel tube.

You can go with Magnum Force frame connectors.....they're a little expensive but are true "bolt-in" connectors(except drilling the bolt holes that is)

Well im not cutting my floor board, just going to make a bend in them for the correct angle then cut the rear part off and weld in some new channel iron to wrap around the frame and weld it all in place, thats if I can get my welder back from my friend.
Thanks for the help. I think the charger will get the magnum force connecters

How about these?

From their website:
They are laser cut to precisely follow the floorpan contour.

Laser cut from 11 Gauge steel (original factory rails are made from 14 gauge material) and CNC bent for a precision fit, these frame rail connectors are designed to be welded in to your existing unibody floor pan. No cutting of the floorpan is required and once welded in, they create a fully boxed frame rail connector that is stronger than the original factory frame rails!!

These are designed to follow the contour of the original floorpan and be welded directly to the original floorpan for maximum strength.
These frame connectors also have additional internal bracing to provide additional strength in the critical rear floor pan area.

I'm considering a purchase here.

Im going to go with the subframe connectors from USCARTOOL, great price and since I have to weld them in might as well go with the ones that I dont have to cut up my floor.
The bolt on mopar connectors work perfect on my 69 charger, piece of crap though for an ebody.
