G'day Guys and Girls,

I have posted here previously about badge options on 70 Barracudas without any joy and it is getting close to crunch time for the body work so just wondering if anyone can answer my questions below or give me a contact that might be able to help.  reason for the difficulty is I'm effectively optioning up my Barracuda with the things I want to do to it but hoping to only do things that would have been optionable at the time.  If I get it wrong it isn't a big problem as no longer numbers matching but trying to get it right nonetheless.  I'm basing my decisions on some assumptions of what was available so any accurate info would be appreciated.  Details as follows:

1970 Barracuda, LA build, 318/904 car, limelight with white interior and a flat bonnet.
Adding the following as to the best of my knowledge these could have been optioned (even if unlikely):
383-4 barrel/727/8.75 drivetrain
Cuda bonnet/hood
Go-wing
Hockey Stick callouts
Exhaust cutout rear valance (I'm pretty sure this wasn't available in CA and not avail on Barracuda??)

So what I need to find out is what would have been the badging for this configuration?  383-4 Barrel badges would have been on the fenders below the Barracuda script but would there have been any badges on the humps of the hood?  I have only seen 'Cuda 383' badges for hoods and it would have been contradictory to have Cuda badging on a Barracuda?  Has anyone ever seen an original Cuda hood that did not have the holes for the engine callout badges as the existance of one of these would possibly confirm my ideas?  Difficult trying to find this out from Australia and as 383 4-barrel Barracudas are a 1 of 464 option, let alone how many were optioned with a Cuda hood makes it difficult to ascertain - maybe this combo never existed and I should just make up a custom combo but still hoping to at least get this little detail right.

Any help would be appreciated or the name/contact details of a Guru in this stuff.  Cheers, Mark.

Hey OZ  how's it going

I would just do the 'CUDA-383 on the hood and maybe the 'CUDA nameplate on the tail if you want to make it look like a real 'CUDA
I think the Barracuda emblem looks almost as good on a blacked out tail panel. If you want the Cuda look though get the inside door panel emblems. They look great for that finishing touch

I never liked the Barracuda emblems on the fenders very much and I would stay away from any 383-4bbl emblems on the fenders too.

Do whatever you want though, these are just my opinions

You can look at the factory engineering drawings at this link;

There is a lot of emblem and stripe information available.

Best of luck,
Barry

Thanks Barry, I checked your site and while I'll have a closer look tonight, I couldn't find anything that related to badges - nothing in the photos either.  I guess ultimately, everyone seems to either have a Cuda or dress them up like one and I was trying to be a little different.    Finding out now is more for the challenge of it - the info is out there somewhere!
