Caked on Mud hardened over 10 years of sit'n

 :1zhelp:

Anyone have any good ideas on removing 10 years of hardened mud on the under belly of a car? This stuff is like concrete.

Any spray on solvent that will break down the mud that is there?

I would've thought some high pressure water would have got it off.

Maybe it is cement?

I had that on the bottom of my truck... I'm thinking some high pressure steam on that?

get your safety glasses  and a hammer and tap it from the edges to the center to kind of crack it loose,, then either a power washer or a steam genny. Good luck,, have fun  dont get dirty :roflsmiley:

IF it is just dried mud get it wet & after a little while a pressure washer should knock it of easily, but what you may have is a buildup of road grime/tar/concrete etc. which may need a little acid to break up. I discoved that some citrus cleaners do a pretty good job of loosening hardened STUFF.

Thanks for the advise guys. I haven't tried much in the form of a power washer because the car doesn't currently run. I have tried some can spray items without much luck so i think I will take your advise. I will try to push the car outside and getting a power washer on it.

Nope, it was about 10 pounds of caked up beach/clay sand.

IF it is just dried mud get it wet & after a little while a pressure washer should knock it of easily, but what you may have is a buildup of road grime/tar/concrete etc.

I pushed it out of the garage this week, jacked it up and washout the under belly to get it wet. I later came back and hit it with 2400 PSI pressure washer w/ the zero tip (this will take off paint if you leave it there long enough), which did the trick. Matter of fact in some areas the under coating was coming off showing the lemon twist under it when I spent too much time removing the dirt.

I can now see the starter and a host of other nuts and bolts!  :bananasmi
