SOME TIMES IT DOES SOME TIMES IT

Broke in my new motor the other day everything went fine. today I turn the key and nothing. I can jump the relay and it will start but not with the key. Wire harness is new, starter relay is new sanded under the relay with no success. Went outside and tried it again and it worked shut it off and it would`nt start with the key again. any sugession

Check the wiring harness plugs for the column too, look for corrosion, clean it as needed and make sure it goes back together tightly.

How about the neutral safety switch that provides a ground to the solenoid on an automatic. or the clutch safety switch does the same on a straight shift? Several folks here have had that issue. I think it is the brown wire w/yellow stripe.

I have the same dang problem in my '79 Magnum with the starter realay jumped out to skip over the neutral saftey switch.
I think I'm down to the keyed switch or like said above, the contacts on the column. UUURRRGGGG!!!!

Cleaned all the terminals and still nothing I have the starter relay grounded under my wiper motor I think I will change that and see if that will do anything.

Your going to need to start tracing for power and work your way forward until you find where it gets cut off.

Brown wire on the ballast was loose  everything is fine. :banghead: feeling kinda stupid

I'm glad to hear problem solved,  :clapping: what I don't understand is I thought it would not crank. I tought ballast only had to do with getting power to the ingition system.  :clueless:
