Any 999 paint gurus?? Factory Plum Crazy 1973 Cuda

Anyone know much about 999 paint code cars?   How much added cost?   Anyone know of any other post 71 FC7 cars?   Car is missing drivetrain but has a perfect broadcast sheet.   Brought home a project car today, 1973 Cuda, came purple, white top, white interior, white stripe.   340 4 speed 3.55 rear, console, rallye gauges, radio delete and all the light options.  There was a completed rusted out basket case 74 318 Barracuda on Ebay last year, that is the only other later FC7 car I had ever seen.   Just curious if anyone ever heard of any.

I knew I would get this    650 miles by myself today, through Chicago road construction twice.   Grab some pictures tomorrow.   Real deal, but a project, nothing real pretty!!  Car has been sitting a long time, was registration in it from 1981 from Green Bay Wisconsin, maybe one of the Vikings left it there....

Wasn't the 999 on the buildsheet to designate any special paint (high impact) color? I'd have to look again but I beleive the same appears on the Charger buildsheet and it is FYI topbannana. Nice find BTW, congratulations.

999 would be on the fender tag and broadcast sheet and should only appear if the color was not available on that model that year.

ie a Q5 1970 Challenger, Plum Crazy '73 Cuda and so on.

Figures, a car that's been near my area turns out to be one of a kind...I better go check out that 'Cuda I've been told about to see if it once had a Hemi between the frame rails...   N96, I can only imagine how well the body held up if you found it in Wisconsin.

So really, if the broadcast sheet and fender tag have 999 on them, unless there is original paint ,there is no real way to tell what the factory color was, corect?  And if a complete resto was done who would believe you?

It would be very important to have pre-restoration photos of any car, especially so for 999 pait code cars.

Read your profile after your comment, I picked the car up near Milwaukee, but car came from Oconto.   I did a white pages for the guy who sold it to the guy I bought it from, he was less than 5 miles away from a name that was on the registration for a lost title back in 81, at the time in Green Bay.   I grew up in Northern WI also, and my first car was a 72 Barracuda, and yes, WI winters are harsh on them!!   The car is very restorable, included with the car was an absolutely perfect front drivers framerail/shock tower/inner fender which is the worse part of the car.

The car is as cool as cool gets, and is definately restorable, but I am halfway into a different Cuda project, and just finshed 2 in the last 2 years.   I promised myself no more Cuda projects so I really don't know what I am going to do with it.

That's awesome, N96!!!  GB has really been the spotlight for old cars in the past few years.  The big Corvette in the trailers were cool, but your find as well as I know of a couple Hemi's (well, my brother-in-law does) that are just chilling at his father's friend's place.  I'll be sure to check out the photos.   On a side note, I found my '73 Challenger in the neighboring area of Shawano, WI.  Very cool that we still have some around this part of the country.
