Hangers and shackles

A good friend of mine, generally a pretty knowledgeable guy, tells me that he would never swap out leaf springs without also swapping out hangers and shackles. I'm trying to arrange a quick axle/leaf swap as cheaply as I can. Can I safely reuse the existing shackles and hangers?

I have reused the front hangars many times with no issues
 depending on the condition  of the shackles you can reuse them if they are not rusted bent  or weakened , at least get new rubber bushings though , new bushings are available from both Mopar in rubber & energy suspension in poly

Having been there and done that, your friend might have been referring to the trouble it is, rather than the degrading of parts. The front hangers I see no problem with re-using. The shackels should not be a problem if they are not bent. From experience, it is tough to get them apart without some "convincing". That usually meant using a hammer that would bend them up a little. That was my downfall.
