hey wats up all. i have a 1968 383 that i stripped down i want to sell it but i want to know wat to sell it for. it is in good cond. but the crank has a big old chip off of it and that is the only thing wrong. i have every part plus all the nuts and bolts... i didnt throw anything away when i stripped it down.... so if some1 would let me know wat sounds like a good price i would appreciate it a lot....

I'd say probably somewhere around $200.00-$2.50.  383's aren't very expensive as to say a complete 340 or 440 and the problem you stated with the crankshaft probably keeps it less than $300.00.  I'd check to see what others have to say, but that's what I'd expect to pay for one.

In fact in most cases a 70-71 340 will command a much higher price than a 440,probably because there were far fewer made

Dude, as much as i love 383s, i couldnt give mine away, (spare one i had in the garage)   it was a 68 383  RR engine, i sold the heads for  100.00 and junked the rest, it was just in my way all the time, i spent more money advertising it !!!!!!

Sonner or later the 383 will be disireable again(they used to throw away Hemi's at one time).If I were to buy another car and the numbers 383 was missing,I would put a 383 back in its place.I Like to have the VIN match the Engine size.The 383 is a respectable muscle car motor.My 2 cents worth
