Detroit locker..any one got one?

Curious to see if anyone is using the locker. My auburn just packed it in and I,m gonna try the locker.

From what I understand, locker's get dicey cornering at high speeds, but if you've got a boulevard cruiser you'll probably never notice. Disclosure statement: I've driven Jeeps with air lockers, but never a car with a "locker" locker, so for me that is all hearsay.

I have one in the front of my Jeep, not that it helps.  Works great, very strong, has held up to lots of abuse and one blown hub.  The engagement mechanism is smoother than the previous design so it isn't nearly as harsh or jerky.  Sorry that is all the info I can provide.

I have one, but seeing as my car is not driveable, I can't comment on the drivability. 
I will say that the one I have is a newer version that says is supposed to be quieter.  I will have to look up the model number but I know it ends with an SL for "SofLocker"   I chose to go this route because of the power I was planning on producing with the Hemi.  As stated above, they are supposed to be a hand full when cornering and especially turning on slick surfaces.

Another option is to go with the Electrac.  It is a limited slip differential, but can be electronically locked.  This gives you the best of both worlds.  Not sure on the pricing though.

Well I hope its stronger, the hot rod shop I deal with says it is, so hope fully it will hold up to the mass amounts of abuse I have planned for it.

For the comment on the locker being dicey on corners and such, it isn't completely true.  The shorter the wheelbase, the worst off you'll be.  You will notice hardly any difference cornering with a detroit locker or a sure grip unit.  It still offers differntial "slip".  As long as you don't apply throttle going into the corners, it won't lock up on you.  The one thing that you must be careful with is in the rain or any other slick condition. Applying power and turning can cause a spin out (more so on the short wheelbase vehicles [ie Gremlin]).  You'll enjoy it for sure!
