Curiose about what funny stories people have from car lot salemen.
One car I test drove had bad brake disks.I asked the guy if they would fix it and he said "they look at all that stuff before the car leaves." I said "I didn't ask about 'all that stuff' ,I am specificaly inquiring about the brakes." He called his manager over and we had the exact same exchange ,which he followed with "...well let me show you this car over here". I walked out on that note.
Another lot I was at the guy was showing me a car and I said "Idle sounds a bit high ,wont it run at normal idle?" He said "It's just a simple tweak on the carb. Bring it back any time and I'll fix it for you" to which I reply "shame you lost a sale by putting off such a simple fix" (I had already test drove 3 beaters and my patients was wearing thin) When I asked about the SUVs he said I couldn't afford them ,I agreed and left.
One lot I went to I actualy got the "it was only driven by a little old lady to church on sundays". I told the guy I was born at night ,but not last night.He got offended and I didn't even bother test driving anything there.
Went to a private seller looking at a firebird ,I said I wanted a couple days to think about it and she said if I didn't buy it right away I wouldn't get it because two guys were going to get a trailer for it right now.But she also said she drove it to work every day and the tag was 2 years exipred and the car had sunk into the ground a bit.I had left my contact info with her and she called my mother later to convince her that I needed the car.Said I would be working on it so much it would keep me out of trouble.Not much of a sales pitch.
Finaly bought a mustang from a larger lot.The multi-function switch in the column was bad.I didn't want to drive it off the lot with any problems and the car I was trading in had stuck in first gear on the drive in so I didn't want to take that home either
after some talking he said they could give me a loaner for the day but he must have heard me telling my brother I coulnd't wait to beat on it.Ended up driving the mustang home and the next day brought it back for the repair.When they slipped me a bill for $250 I put on a pretty good scene about sending me off the lot without turn signals and they covered it though
