No Challenger For Me
« on: April 26, 2002 - 01:07:45 PM »
well i finally got shot down for sure.  found a good deal on a 6 cylinder 3 speed 70 challenger on ebay.  perfect project car.  my aspirations hold that i will someday own a 472 cid 700+ horse hemi and i figure a 70 chally would be a good donor car for it.  as many of you probably know im just a young college squirt living at home with my equally auto addicted father.  he really likes challengers so i was pushing on him to split the bill of a good project car.  i could tell he was interested in it, but he finally said we have too many cars and just no where good to put a new one or to work on it.  which is true.  still bugs me though cause we have plenty of money to do the job, just no space.  hope them challengers are still around in a few years when i get my own garage!

My dad might have to sell his Chally for some money... I'll keep you in mind if he has to... it's a 1973 Challenger Rallye, 340 4-speed on the floor. Almost 50K miles, it's a show car though... all stock, LemonTwist Yellow with black vinyl top, black interior and black strobes. Cost would be between 10-12K though... just trying to inform...

Later,

Mike

thanks but were actually looking for a project.  the reason ive decided against dropping a hemi into my charger is because it is so nice and numbers matching.  would rather put one into a custom car that i dont care about originality.  just a different game

Ross, I feel your pain.  We have a very small garage that can barely hold our tools let alone a car.  Me and the hubby been talking about building a workshop out in the back to house and work on the old girl when she gets out of the body shop.  But since that costs a small fortune, we will probably be pushing her in and out of the garage to work on her.  Any hope of talking good ole dad into building a workshop/garage?

yeah that was the one.  i deleted it cause i didnt want to drive the bidding up  ;D  but in the end i didnt bid anyway.  and yeah there might be hope.  parents are thinking about buying a new house on a big plot for ross sr to build a 6+ car garage out back.  that would be cool.

yeah we need it too.  we already have 7 cars and a motorcyle and only a 3 car garage.  got one in storage fortunately, but quite a few nice cars forced to live outside for now.  oh well, someday.  until then i just have to live vicariously through you guys  ;D  in all honesty thats one of the big reasons why i did this board.

Hey Ross, you can relate then!

I went through a divorce 4 yrs. ago and had to sell my house with a large 23 x 29 garage.

My Duster has been sitting outside on a friend's acreage since then. I live in an apartment and so have no room. Fortunately, my friend doesn't charge me for storage, but it is getting to be embarrassing. I feel like I'm free loading, and I hate that.

Since I am remarrying in September, we are selling my fiance's 1/2 duplex without a garage and will have a house and garage again by then!
A garage, no matter how small, is a luxury one can't be without for us Mopar enthusiasts!  ;D
