Hockey Stripe...Flat Black or Black?
« on: April 22, 2002 - 10:42:03 AM »
Is there something I need to consider when selecting between flat black or regular black for my 340 Hockey stripe?  The Cuda has a black vinyl top.   Would this be called out on the build sheet....my build sheet is in pretty bad shape.

What is your preference: flat or regular black on a Sassy Grass Green/w Black Vinyl Top/ Black Interior Cuda?

Opinions are historical facts welcome!!

If you really want to blow someone away with colors, go with a Panther Pink stripe.... ;D ;D

Just kidding...

I'd go with the regular black because of the color of your car. I've seen flat black on a black/black/black car and that looked REALLY cool!!!

Later,

Mike

I put flat black 440 hockey stripes on my '73 Barracuda. The car is crimsin red. It throws a lot of people off when the see a '73 with 440 stripes.

I like the flat black myself.

What color do they come from the factory???  Flat or Gloss???  I thought the stripes were painted the same color as the SHAKERS and Go-Wings???

Exactly my point CudaGuy!  I am not sure how they came from the factory and/or why some would be flat or glossy.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the stripes were flat black. The problem is they can't be waxed. It is a decision that you will have to make. My feeling is go with the non flat black. There is no hassle about trying to wax the car. Most people don't know the difference anyway.
I got my stripes from Performance Car Graphics. they have great instructions and good advice. 850-878-1450 give them a call.

Great feedback!  Thanks to all who replied...I think I will go with the non-flat black...

That would be a total pain to try and keep wax of the stripe.  I am patient....but not that patient.

Another alternative I've seen is, to have them painted on. Wax on, wax off, no problem.  ;)
