$15k.  You will easily spend $50k to make that car decent, unless you are a bodyman and have a machine shop AND a paint booth.

Also, I wouldn't count on it being "worth" $80k or some big number like that.  You might get someone to pay that, but I'd check the number of Challenger converts on the market, waiting for buyers at under $50k.  (I found three last night).  For a real R/T to be worth serious B-J money, you won't be putting on any P&G Classic parts, will you?  For that money, I'd want all NOS or restored parts, no repros.... and that will be expensive...

Here's a nice Chally rag that has been sitting for more than a year, waiting for a buyer at $85k.

http://www.familyclassiccars.com/ourinventory.html  (click around till you find the Chally convert)

Plus, on moparts there is another one (not a real R/T tho), in AZ, all bodywork done and painted, with most of the parts there, and the guy has had it listed for like six months at $35k obo.

It's still there.

There's a nice orange 340 shaker car for $49k out there too, and the flipper that's selling it only paid $44k for it.

So I'd give that one on moparts the ol' walk-on-by...

There's a redone 70conv w/hemi in NH sharp looking 89K Fitzgerald motorsports I believe.  Also has a T/A.  I'm pretty sure they've been for sale for some time.  Beautiful cars but I don't have 90K 50K 20K either thats why I paid 5K and it will cost more but not all at once! It's not a convt either but good for now.  I think there was a thread before about the 70 barracuda convt at Carlisle it was a basket case and started @50K?  Remember when a Hemicuda was that price restored?  Crazy

Hi everyone,

Thanks very much for the great feedback-it's really appreciated. Help me with this..............if you put $50k of restoration work into the car, wouldn't it be worth at least $100K? I thought E-body ragtops were selling for well over 100 large.

I don't know.... If it were a 440 6-Pack car, or Hemi, then maybe??  :dunno:  As is, I think 100K is too much to ask after resto.

I hate to beat this to death but just so I'm clear....... the consensus is that even with a $50k rotisserie restoration on a 1 of 163
'70 Challenger R/T convertible numbers matching car with 2 fender tags and build sheet that it wouldn't command over $100k                        :dunno:

Not even close to 100K when done.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

better (less $) to buy 'em finished unless you've got the time, space, and talent to do 90% of the work
youself. Also, you get to see the end result in the beginning.

:money: I think the seller has over priced it.  With the car in pieces and the work that has been done unkown.  Your basically starting as if your rebuilding it all yourself.  So I'm thinking $24K to $30K for the car in pieces.  Then your still drop $15K - $30K into it and come close to what you might buy it completed for in todays dollars.  Note your probably adding another $20K in personal labor into the car. :picture:  What do the rest of you think?
