Pulled my rear tranny seal and found... this...
« on: July 26, 2006 - 07:34:00 PM »
It's an 833A tranny.

Looks like something beyond the main rear seal/dust boot has been pierced or pushed in by an errant screwdriver or something.

Fluid seems to be coming from here.

I'm assuming that this isn't normal/correct.

If that is on the bottom of the tranny it is the oil galley for the bushing.

That is indeed the bottom. Basically, it's the point of view of the driveshaft.

Sounds like that's supposed to be there.

Just wanted to make sure.

Thanks.

Mine looks exacly the same. When you pull the bushing you will notice a hole in it. This hole lines up with that gallley to supply oil to the driveshaft yoke. I have been looking for the puller posted in your other thread, if you find one let me know what parts store and the part number. If I find one I will post.

That's a nice looking, specialized tool. I imagine that it pulls those bushings in two shakes.

Thankfully, I decided that mine didn't need replacing. No movement when the shaft was in there. :-)
